Tottenham take the points at Stamford Bridge

Tottenham Hotspur won 2-0 away to Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge in London. A Mike Penders own goal opened the scoring before Mathys Tel added the second. Between those goals, Chelsea lost Cole Palmer to a second yellow card. The hosts therefore finished the match with ten players after the late sequence that settled a previously goalless game.[1], [2]

The goalkeepers keep the first half level

Heavy rain accompanied an opening half in which both goalkeepers were called into action. Antonin Kinsky saved Palmer’s effort after a move involving Pedro Neto and Morgan Rogers. He also stopped Henderson following his own mistake and kept out a Neto attempt at the near post. At the other end, Penders denied Omar Marmoush from close range and then came out to stop Tel at his feet. Mohammed Kudus shot wide for Tottenham.[1]

The match turns in the final minutes

Palmer received his first booking in the 71st minute after a confrontation involving several players. Six minutes later, Penders turned a corner into his own net while under pressure from Van Hecke. Palmer then caught Gallagher and was dismissed in the 80th minute. Tel completed a run with the finish that made it 2-0 in the 87th. Chelsea’s next match is against Liverpool in the fourth round of the League Cup on Wednesday.[1]
