Nashville secure the regular-season title
Nashville SC secured their first Supporters’ Shield with a 2-0 victory away to CF Montréal in Canada. The trophy rewards the best regular-season record in Major League Soccer, the North American league. Nashville clinched it with three matches remaining. Sam Surridge and Hany Mukhtar scored the goals after halftime, turning a goalless opening period into the win that sealed first place.[1], [2]
Surridge finishes the rebound
Surridge broke the deadlock within seven minutes of the restart. Reed Baker-Whiting advanced on the left and crossed to the far post. Samsy Keita saved Surridge’s header, but the rebound returned to the striker, who finished at the second attempt. Mukhtar later seized possession near the edge of the penalty area after a Montréal defensive error and sent his shot through the goalkeeper’s legs. Keita had also denied Surridge early in the first half.[1]
Playoff home advantage follows
Brian Schwake kept Nashville’s goal intact, stretching to save Daniel Pereira’s second-half effort and holding an earlier Alexis Sánchez free kick. The Shield is Nashville’s second major trophy after the 2025 US Open Cup. First place guarantees home-field advantage through the MLS Cup Playoffs final and qualification for the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. Nashville next host Philadelphia; five points from the nine still available would take them beyond the league’s points record.[1]
