Beier supplies the only goal

Borussia Dortmund defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, Germany. Maximilian Beier scored the only goal in the 80th minute of the Bundesliga match. A shot from the edge of the penalty area finally beat Frankfurt goalkeeper Noah Atubolu after a contest in which both sides had created chances. Frankfurt could not find an equaliser during the remaining minutes.[1], [2]

Atubolu denies Guirassy twice

Atubolu saved Serhou Guirassy’s powerful long-range shot in the 15th minute, then stopped the striker in a one-on-one. Frankfurt also threatened: Jonathan Burkardt shot narrowly wide after Noel Aseko released him, and Gregor Kobel prevented Younes Ebnoutalib from scoring. A deflected Daniel Svensson effort hit the crossbar for Dortmund. Atubolu then turned away Felix Nmecha’s attempt shortly before the interval, keeping the teams level at halftime.[1]

Frankfurt hold out until the 80th minute

Farès Chaibi tested Kobel with a strong shot immediately after the restart, but the goalkeeper pushed it over. Guirassy again struck the woodwork, this time with a close-range header. Dortmund increased the pressure before Beier curled his decisive shot into the right corner beyond Atubolu. Visiting coach Adi Hütter had started Elias Baum and Aseko in place of Keita Kosugi and Mario Götze. Frankfurt captain Robin Koch made his 100th Bundesliga appearance for the club.[1]
