Rakib wins a tied-score comparison

Bangladesh took the top seeds in both compound individual qualification rounds at the Asia Cup’s second stage in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. Nawaz Ahmed Rakib and Kazakhstan’s Pavel Kuznetsov both scored 693 points in the men’s event. Rakib had 18 inner-centre hits, known as Xs, against Kuznetsov’s 17, giving him first place despite the equal total scores. These were qualification results, establishing positions for the elimination matches.[1], [2]

Akter leads the women by three points

Bonna Akter led the women’s compound field with 696 points. Iraq’s Fatimah Saad Al Mashhadani finished second with 693 and Kazakhstan’s Elmira Raissova third with 685. Akter’s three-point lead meant the women’s top seed did not depend on the tied-total comparison required in the men’s competition. The two Bangladeshi leaders therefore reached first place through different score comparisons in their respective fields.[1]

Bangladesh carries its Bangkok team success forward

Bangladesh’s Himu Bachhar qualified fourth in the men’s compound round. He and Rakib had been members of the team that won the country’s first Asia Cup compound men’s team gold at the opening stage in Bangkok. Bangladesh again led the men’s compound team qualification standings in Sulaymaniyah. Competition continues on Monday with team and mixed-team elimination matches at Sulaymaniyah Sport Club.[1]
