Nacua catches the record-breaking pass

Matthew Stafford became the Los Angeles Rams’ leader in touchdown passes during a 35-21 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in the United States’ National Football League. An 11-yard pass to receiver Puka Nacua in the second quarter brought Stafford’s Rams total to 155, moving him past Roman Gabriel’s previous club record of 154. All three of Stafford’s touchdown passes in the game came before half-time.[1], [2]

Allen scores twice before the milestone

Stafford first found Davis Allen on a 3-yard touchdown pass in the opening quarter, then connected with him again from 5 yards. He completed the game with 23 successful passes from 29 attempts, gaining 195 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception. The Rams’ 22-point half-time lead narrowed in the fourth quarter before a late touchdown run by Blake Corum protected the margin.[1]

Stafford also holds Detroit’s club record

Stafford already holds the Detroit Lions’ club record with 282 touchdown passes from 12 seasons. He joined the Rams after the 2020 season in a trade that sent Jared Goff to Detroit and included first-round draft picks. Stafford has played 81 games for Los Angeles. Discussing the milestone, he credited teammates who block and catch the ball and the coaches who design the plays.[1]
