Real Madrid hit ACB-record 24 threes against Lleida

Real Madrid made 24 three-pointers in a 122-86 away win over Lleida, setting a single-game record in Spain’s ACB basketball league. Théo Maledon hit the final three in the closing seconds to move Madrid past the previous mark of 23. The team also took its fifth league win in five games. That shooting tally stands out in an otherwise lopsided result.

Madrid break the ACB mark in Lleida

Real Madrid made 24 three-pointers in a 122-86 away win over Lleida, setting the ACB league’s single-game record. Both the club’s match account and El País report the 24-shot mark and the victory in Spain’s top basketball league. The previous high was 23, shared by Unicaja and Baskonia in earlier seasons, according to El País. Théo Maledon made Madrid’s final three at the end of the game to move the team beyond that mark. The result also gave Madrid five wins from its first five league games. It is possible to describe the afternoon with the score alone, but the historic shooting tally distinguishes this particular comfortable victory: the sheer number of successful attempts from outside the arc.[1], [2]

The lead grows through the quarters

Madrid established an early lead with threes from Andrés Feliz and Maledon, reaching 8-0 before Lleida found a response. The home side scored inside and narrowed the gap, but Madrid kept finding long-range shots. It led 31-21 after the first quarter. Lleida improved at the start of the second, reducing the margin to 34-28, before Madrid rebuilt control and took a 54-40 lead into half-time. The visitors had made nine of 15 threes during the second period, according to the club account. Lleida again tried to close the gap after the break, but Madrid finished the third quarter 81-63 ahead. The scoring pattern shows that Madrid accumulated its made threes through repeated stretches of accurate shooting, not a single late burst alone.[1]

Six late threes take total to 24

The final minutes supplied that burst. Madrid made six threes in the last three minutes, with Maledon’s last-second shot raising the total to 24. Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot scored 31 points with seven threes from nine attempts; Maledon added 27 points and seven threes from eight. The team made 53 percent of its three-point attempts overall, according to Madrid’s account. A week earlier it had set its own ACB high with 20 against Bilbao, so this game pushed both its club mark and the league’s historical mark higher. Madrid reported an eighth consecutive win across competitions and sole leadership of the league after five rounds. The larger team trend provides context, while the 24 made threes in one game remain the new development.[1]
