Carpe joins Ferrández in the intermediate class

Yamaha has announced that Álvaro Carpe will race for Pramac Yamaha in Moto2, the intermediate category of motorcycle grand prix racing, in 2027. The Spaniard moves from Moto3 and will partner Alberto Ferrández. Ferrández is staying with the team for another year, completing its announced pairing for the coming season.[1], [2]

The announcement was made in Sepang, on 29 October. Yamaha describes the signing as part of its BLU CRU programme for developing young riders. Carpe is 19.[1]

Two junior titles preceded his Moto3 campaign

Carpe won both the Red Bull Rookies Cup and JuniorGP, two junior motorcycle racing competitions, in 2024. He made his Moto3 world championship debut in Barcelona that year with Red Bull KTM Ajo. In his first full season in 2025, he collected five podiums, took a first pole position at Mugello and finished fourth on 215 points.[1]

Seven podiums before the announced move

This season Carpe has seven podium finishes, made up of three second places and four thirds. He held fourth in the standings when the move was announced. Carpe welcomed the opportunity to step up, while Ferrández said his focus remained on the current season and recovery. Pramac principal Paolo Campinoti said the team would continue supporting young riders with Yamaha.[1]
