Batrakov scores twice before the interval
Galatasaray defeated Stuttgart in the Champions League after Aleksey Batrakov scored twice in the first half.[1], [2]
The match finished 2-0, taking the Turkish club to six points from four league-phase games. Stuttgart remained on seven after their first defeat in the competition this season. The visitors had nearly taken the lead in the eighth minute, when Jamie Leweling’s effort from Maximilian Mittelstädt’s cross struck both posts.[1]
Two goals arrive three minutes apart
Lucas Torreira began the move for the opening goal in the 12th minute. Roland Sallai’s cross took a defensive deflection towards Batrakov, whose shot touched goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow and the crossbar before going in. In the 15th minute, Batrakov ran onto Davinson Sánchez’s pass and finished through Bredlow’s legs. Bredlow denied him another goal seven minutes later, and Victor Osimhen sent the rebound over the bar.[1]
Çakır protects the lead after half-time
Bredlow also saved from Osimhen in the 56th minute. At the other end, Galatasaray goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır stopped attempts by Deniz Undav, Chris Führich and Jovan Pejčinović in the 63rd, 65th and 86th minutes. Batrakov reached five goals in 12 competitive appearances for Galatasaray, four of them in the Champions League. He has scored in each of his last three games in the European competition.[1]
