Wing and floor package heads to Brazil
McLaren is bringing a new front wing to the São Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil, alongside rear-wing updates and smaller floor components. The Formula 1 team has described the package as part of its continuing development programme. Aerodynamics chief Peter Prodromou said the work was intended to improve the car during the remaining races and provide learning for the following season.[1], [2]
Front-wing concept is planned for next year’s car
Prodromou said the team expected the new front-wing concept to carry into the launch specification of its next car. McLaren’s development work continues while it is fighting for third place in the constructors’ championship. It arrives in Brazil 17 points behind Red Bull. At the preceding Mexican Grand Prix, Lando Norris finished fifth, while Oscar Piastri was classified 13th after a 10-second penalty dropped him from seventh.[1]
Fornaroli takes Piastri’s car in opening practice
Leonardo Fornaroli is scheduled to drive Piastri’s car in the first free-practice session at Interlagos, the circuit hosting the São Paulo race. His previous practice appearances were in Barcelona, Hungary and Mexico. McLaren said this outing completes its mandated rookie practice allocation. Norris and Piastri remain the race drivers, with the temporary change applying to the opening practice session.[1]
