Thun establish an early lead
Scottish club Hearts lost 3-1 away to Switzerland’s FC Thun in the Conference League on November 5. Stuart Findlay scored the visitors’ goal after the home side had already taken a three-goal lead.[1], [2]
Jamie McCart conceded an own goal while attempting a pass back to goalkeeper Beau Reus, with Lucien Dahler close by. Brighton Labeau then added Thun’s second before the interval. Stephen Kingsley had tried to clear the ball before Reichmuth supplied the cross for that goal. Josh McPake twice tested home goalkeeper Steffen.[1]
Findlay replies after Thun’s third
Furkan Dursun extended the lead with a close-range finish from another Reichmuth cross after half-time. Reus also denied both players on other occasions. A Nico Maier lob went wide, and Jan Bamert had a goal disallowed for offside after a free kick hit the bar. Findlay eventually headed in Jordi Altena’s free kick in the closing stages.[1]
Kingsley injury further reduces Hearts’ options
Manager Wouter Vrancken began the match without ten players and then lost captain Kingsley to injury. Matthew Gillies, recalled from his loan at Stenhousemuir, came on in his place. Hearts remained on one point after previously drawing 1-1 with Nordsjaelland and losing 2-0 to Trabzonspor. Vrancken called on his players to keep working and stay united.[1]
