Hu finishes 1.7 points clear of Malviya
Chinese shooter Hu Kai claimed the men’s 10 metre air pistol title at the World Shooting Championships in Doha, Qatar, on November 5. India’s Jaypal Malviya took silver and Czechia’s Jindrich Dubovy bronze. Hu accumulated 243.9 points, finishing 1.7 points above Malviya’s 242.2. Dubovy completed the medal positions on 220.9 points in the eight-shooter final.[1], [2]
The medallists secure three national quotas
The final also distributed Olympic quota places to China, India and Czechia. Each of the three medallists earned a place for his National Olympic Committee for the Los Angeles Games. Those places belong to the national committees rather than automatically becoming personal Olympic entries for the athletes. Hu’s gold therefore accompanied a quota for China, with Malviya and Dubovy securing the other two places.[1]
China places three shooters in the final
China’s Bu Shuaihang was fourth with 199.5 points, ahead of Italian Paolo Monna on 179.4. Islam Shamsutdinov competed as an Individual Neutral Athlete and finished sixth with 156.8. Another Chinese finalist, Xie Yu, scored 136.5 for seventh, while Thailand’s Kiettikul Sudkhet was eighth on 116.7. Hu, Bu and Xie gave China three representatives in this individual final.[1]
