After five rounds
Muhammet Seyhun Kaya’s five qualification rounds in Doha, Qatar, read 25, 24, 24, 25 and 24 hits: a total of 122. That line alone leaves his outcome unresolved. Eight men share the same total, and six of them reached the skeet final. The second number beside Kaya’s name is his shoot-off score of 21. Fourth place and qualification emerge when the five-round total is read together with that additional result. First comes qualification over 125 targets, followed by the ordering of the athletes tied on that total.[1]
Tomas Nydrle heads the tied group. The Czech shooter began with 22 and then hit 25 in each of his remaining four rounds. Kaya opened with a perfect round and distributed his misses across the second, third and fifth rounds. Two different sequences therefore arrived at the same total of 122. In the shoot-off, Nydrle scored 22 and Kaya 21 to take third and fourth. Nydrle’s recovery after his opening round shows how an account built around a single round can leave the qualification outcome incomplete.[1]
Six places allocated by the shoot-off
The next qualifiers recorded shoot-off scores of 19 for Timi Vallioniemi, 15 for Abdulaziz Alsaad, 9 for Eetu Kallioinen and 7 for Kirill Makarov. The eight-man final list closes with Makarov. Yang Jiang’s 3 shoot-off hits leave him ninth, while Daniel Korcak’s 1 leaves him tenth. Both have the same qualification total as Kaya: 122. For this group on 122, the boundary of the final is located in the shoot-off order. The six available places can be traced through those additional results beside the shared total.[1]
Above them, Azmy Mehelba reached 125 through five rounds of 25, while Jesper Hansen scored 123. The remaining final places were allocated within the tied group behind those two. Turkey’s Salih Oday finished 17th with 121 and did not enter the shoot-off group Kaya reached on 122. I read qualification by first identifying which total forms each group, then examining how that group is ordered. Kaya’s route to the final runs through reaching the tie on 122 and securing one of its six places in the shoot-off. That selection was completed before the medal contest.[1]
