Meta is preparing camera-free Luna glasses after a privacy backlash
TechCrunch and The Verge, both citing The Information, say Meta is building camera-free Luna glasses with six microphones and a side button for Meta AI and Muse, possibly shown at Connect, with an October shipping aim.

The Information's leak, twice written up
TechCrunch reported on 16 September that Meta, after complaints that its camera glasses were being used as covert recording kit, is developing a model without a camera, internally called Luna. The story cites The Information. The Verge, the same day, also citing The Information, said Meta may be ready to reveal a pair with no camera at all amid the privacy crisis around its flagship frames. Neither outlet presents a Meta confirmation of the leak.[1], [2]
Six microphones, no lens
TechCrunch says Luna would use six built-in microphones so wearers can talk to Meta's chatbot and to Muse, its consumer agent, plus a button on the side that activates the AI system. The Verge adds speakers for audio playback and says removing the camera allowed slimmer arms closer to ordinary frames. Two styles named in The Verge's account are Clubmaster and Burbank. These are reported specifications, not a priced SKU.[1], [2]
Connect next week, ship in October — if the leak holds
TechCrunch says Luna may be unveiled as soon as Meta Connect in Menlo Park next week. The Verge says the company is targeting October shipments. The Verge separately describes Phoenix augmented-reality glasses as a 2027 product, not part of the Luna hardware. Until Meta speaks on stage or in a press note, the Connect date and the October ship window remain The Information's timetable as relayed by these two publishers.[2], [1]
