Infosys and Columbia establish an enterprise AI research center

Infosys and Columbia University announced an enterprise AI research center in New York, led by Columbia Engineering. The collaboration connects university research with work on business processes, responsible deployment and marketing applications. Columbia leads a new enterprise research collaboration

Technology-services company Infosys and Columbia University established a collaboration for enterprise AI research. The center aims to connect university research with applications inside businesses. The partners announced the initiative on October 1.[1], [2]

Columbia Engineering, the university’s engineering school, leads the Infosys Topaz Columbia Enterprise AI Center. It is located at Infosys’s One World Trade Center office in New York. Researchers, students, practitioners and business leaders are to participate in joint research, workshops and projects with clients from different industries.[1]

Research covers workflows, governance and marketing

The program’s first theme examines experiences and processes designed around AI, including voice and free-form text interaction, task restructuring and organizational workflows. Responsible and sustainable AI forms the second theme, covering regulation, ethics, cybersecurity, energy use, transparency and explainability. Marketing work includes personalization, campaign agents, analytics and generative content.[1]

Garud Iyengar serves as founding director

Garud Iyengar serves as the center’s founding director. He directs Columbia’s Data Science Institute and is a professor of industrial engineering and operations research. Infosys executive vice president and chief delivery officer Satish H C describes the partnership as part of the company’s work to help enterprises apply AI. Infosys contributes experience in enterprise implementation and client work.[1]
