MetaMoJi plans SHUUSAI classroom AI with teacher oversight

MetaMoJi announced SHUUSAI, an educational AI designed to prompt pupils to think while helping teachers prepare assessment criteria and organize classroom contributions. Some functions are planned for ClassRoom 3 in March 2027. School trials and a later standalone service remain ahead. Classroom learning outcomes remain to be assessed through the planned trials.

SHUUSAI is planned around pupils’ thinking and teacher review

MetaMoJi, a company providing classroom software, announced its educational AI SHUUSAI on October 22. The planned system combines dialogue intended to encourage pupils to think with tools supporting teachers’ classroom work. Teachers can supervise how students use the AI and the material involved. The announcement sets out functions and a future release schedule, rather than opening every capability to pupils immediately.[1], [2]

The dialogue component is designed to move a pupil forward through questions, rather than simply deliver the answer. Other proposed functions include preparing assessment rubrics, grouping students’ opinions and personal feedback informed by learning history. These tools address different classroom tasks: defining how work is assessed, organizing contributions from a discussion and responding to an individual student’s progress during learning.[1]

Classroom materials and conversations stay within the lesson workflow

Teachers can prepare criteria suited to the grade level and the purpose of a lesson. Grouping similar opinions is intended to make patterns in classroom discussion easier to see. Conversation histories can be kept alongside lesson notes. The design places the teacher in a position to review both the content used with the system and the way pupils progress through the activity.[1]

Demonstrations described around the announcement include handwritten mathematics as classroom context for the system. MetaMoJi also describes a structure able to use different models and layered measures against unsuitable answers and excessive dependence. Those measures are the company’s proposed protections. The demonstrations do not provide measured learning gains from broad use across a student population; school trials remain part of the development programme.[1]

Some ClassRoom 3 functions are scheduled before the standalone service

MetaMoJi plans to add some SHUUSAI capabilities to its ClassRoom 3 learning-support service in March 2027. The company envisages a standalone SHUUSAI service for winter 2027 and plans to invite interested schools into broader trials from summer 2027. The schedule separates additions to existing classroom software from testing and the later standalone service. Availability and the assessment of classroom outcomes therefore belong to different stages of the announced plan.[1]
