    OpenAI opens Daybreak tools for Ukraine's civilian cyber defense

    OpenAI opened its Daybreak models to Ukrainian cybersecurity officials at an announcement in New York and pledged more than 1 billion dollars in subsidized tokens, CyberScoop reported. Consul general Dmytro Kushneruk listed incident response, threat triage, login analysis, inventories, code analysis and vulnerability checks, and said speed does not replace people. He put the country's attacks near 6000 a year. The Next Web reported the same opening as free access for the government, aimed at civilian infrastructure, and tied the incident count to CERT-UA.

    Pakistan struck 10 Afghan sites after drone attacks, and Khost lists no deaths

    Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan struck 10 sites in Afghanistan that Islamabad linked to drones. The Independent reported that announcement and Zabihullah Mujahid's Wednesday denial that Afghan forces had launched drones at Pakistan. Al Jazeera reported strikes in Khost and the governor's office saying those strikes left no casualties. The Thursday claim and the denial are both published.

    Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit announced provisional results on Thursday from Wednesday's parliamentary vote. The Authenticity and Modernity Party took 97 of 395 seats, ahead of the National Rally of Independents on 66 and Istiqlal on 65, while the Justice and Development Party rose to 54. Turnout was 38.02 percent. Deutsche Welle reported the same first-place finish and said King Mohammed VI still appoints the prime minister and keeps defence and foreign affairs.

    Ray-Ban Meta Audio arrives without a camera after the recording fight

    Meta introduced the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses at Connect 2026. Alex Himel, who leads wearables, told The Verge the glasses do not record and listen for a wake word. TechCrunch reported the same launch as the company's first camera-free AI glasses, built as an audio-only answer to criticism of malicious uses. The glasses, on that account, handle listening, calls, translation and Meta's assistant Muse. Neither report is a lab test of the wake word.

    Suncatcher flies 4 TPUs on a Falcon 9 on 1 October

    Google set 1 October for the first Project Suncatcher satellite, a refrigerator-sized craft with 4 TPUs and about 1 kW of solar power, on SpaceX's Falcon 9 Transporter-18 flight. Cooling lets those chips run about 15 minutes and then stop. The Verge reported the same 1 October Falcon 9 launch and the same 15-minute run before the chips are switched off.

    The 10-year US yield hit 5.104 per cent, a July 2007 level

    The 10-year US Treasury yield rose more than 13 basis points to 5.104 per cent, last seen in July 2007 and the biggest one-day rise since 7 April 2025. The 2-year and 30-year rose too. A five-year auction and hotter S&P Global activity readings landed the same day, and Michael Barr said further policy adjustments are likely. The Financial Times called the jump the sharpest since the liberation-day tariff shock.

    The OECD lifts inflation forecasts for the G20 except China and Saudi Arabia

    The OECD's interim outlook raised consumer-price projections versus June for every G20 economy except China and Saudi Arabia, the Financial Post reported, and the outlook includes one further Federal Reserve hike this year. Bloomberg said world inflation will be faster than forecast in 2027 and that the picture calls for more tightening from the United States to Australia. The exception list is the Financial Post's.
