Garcia wrote that the spacecraft launched on 16 September from Baikonur on a Soyuz rocket.

Live Science reported on 20 September 2026 that NASA turned on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope's 300-megapixel camera this week and that stars appeared neon-green in the first test image. A NASA Science blog on 15 September said the team had activated that Wide Field Instrument and checked the coronagraph. Live Science also said the agency was talking about doubling the mission's lifespan.
