Ten new songs for February
Everything But the Girl announced Blue Reservoir on 28 October, setting 19 February 2027 as the release date through Buzzin’ Fly and Virgin Music Group. The ten-track album arrives with Young and Dumb and a video filmed at London’s Moth Club. Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt previously returned with Fuse in 2023, ending a 24-year interval between albums. The new work follows the small-scale concerts that brought them back to performing together.[1], [2]
Moth Club shapes the arrangements
Thorn said the residency began with two shows after 25 years without a joint performance and grew into about 30 concerts. Guitar and voice formed the foundation, with double bass, drums and percussion added around them. Rather than record the performances, the pair chose to write new songs from that experience. Watt connected the approach to small folk groups and Brazilian music, and to the mixture of folk, jazz and Brazilian influences they explored in the early eighties.[1]
Young and Dumb faces the present
Thorn described the single’s opening Spanish guitar as a deliberate sign of the change from Fuse. Its words concern accepting the present while retaining the energy of youth. Scala draws on her teenage years and nineteenth birthday; the duo changed its original music to keep the lyrics. Forward opens the album with a message about moving ahead. Announced performances include Union Chapel in November, Moth Club in December and London, Bristol and Manchester concerts in May 2027.[1]
