Phoebe Bridgers releases five songs from her phone-free New York concert

Phoebe Bridgers has released a live EP recorded at her June Madison Square Garden show. Its five performances draw on Lost Weekend, ending with a stripped-back title song and its reprise. The New York concert concluded a run of surprise acoustic appearances; the recordings now reach listeners through Tidal as Live at Madison Square Garden.

A June performance becomes a live release

Singer Phoebe Bridgers released Live at Madison Square Garden on October 29. The five-song EP, a short album, draws on her June performance at the New York arena. The show had been announced on two days’ notice. It brings selected live versions of songs from her studio album Lost Weekend to Tidal, the music platform that presented the concert.[1], [2]

Five songs retain the acoustic arrangements

The programme consists of Lost Boys, Kill Me, I Can’t Wait, Other Plans and Long Lost Weekend. The last selection uses a stripped-back arrangement of the album’s title song and moves into its reprise. The recordings come from the same concert, where the acoustic approach followed earlier small pop-up performances used to try new material on stage.[1]

The show closed a phone-free concert sequence

Before the arena date, Bridgers had played for audiences of a few hundred. Audience members surrendered phones and cameras during the performances. Madison Square Garden concluded that sequence; professional recording preserved the show despite the audience phone rule. Proceeds supported the Immigration Bond Freedom Fund, run by Community Justice Exchange to help people held in immigration detention obtain release on bond.[1]
