Dracula begins Ford’s Frontiers releases
Singer and guitarist Lita Ford released Dracula through record label Frontiers Music on October 27. It comes from her forthcoming studio album, following 2012’s Living Like A Runaway. Ford describes the song as a fantasy about an entity that seduces, controls and drains another person’s life. The new single follows her agreement with Frontiers, after a search for a team to release the project.[1], [2]
Hoey, Norman and Rock join the recording
Gary Hoey was the single’s producer and played guitar alongside Ford; Bobby Rock played drums, and Max Norman mixed it. Ford has described exchanging guitar ideas with Hoey and working around their touring schedules. Ford also discussed pandemic shutdowns, coordinating touring schedules and the death of a songwriting partner during work on the album. In April she told Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM that the album was finished, naming a duet with Doro Pesch and a song written with Jean Beauvoir.[1]
Ford prepares a connected album-length story
Ford said the new album carries a theme throughout and was conceived for listening in full. She cited Alice Cooper and Deep Purple albums from her youth as examples of that approach. Her previous release, Time Capsule in 2016, gathered older recordings that had not been issued before. Her autobiography, Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir, also appeared in 2016 through Dey Street Books.[1]
