Campbell confirms another Sidney role
Actor Neve Campbell has confirmed that she will return as Sidney Prescott in Scream 8, the next instalment of the horror franchise.[1], [2]
She included the sequel among her upcoming projects while speaking about her work.[1]
The announcement came during a Monday interview with the Associated Press while Campbell was promoting the Netflix series Black Doves. Asked what would happen to Sidney next, she declined to reveal the story.[1]
Scream 7’s earnings preceded the sequel
Spyglass Media and film distributor Paramount Pictures began developing another sequel following Scream 7’s commercial success. Variety put its worldwide opening at 97.2 million dollars and total earnings at 208 million dollars, against a production budget of 45 million dollars. Both the opening and worldwide total were franchise records, according to the outlet.[1]
A pay dispute interrupted her earlier run
Campbell appeared in six of the first seven films. She missed Scream 6 in 2023 after a pay dispute, returning for Scream 7 on a reported salary of 7 million dollars. In earlier comments she said the offer for the sixth film had failed to reflect the value she brought to the series, and that she felt she needed to turn it down.[1]
