Six years after Warriors
Nigerian singer Innocent Ujah Idibia, known as 2Baba, has set 27 November as the release date for Oldest Young Man, his first full-length studio album in six years.[1], [2]
The sixteen-track project follows Warriors, released in February 2020. He first teased the new title on social media in August. The release announcement gives a date to a project that listeners had already encountered through an early preview. The complete tracklist and additional featured artists have yet to be unveiled.[1]
Lagos listeners heard an early preview
An early selection was played at a listening event on 19 September in Victoria Island, a district of Lagos in Nigeria. It formed part of the singer’s fifty-first birthday celebrations. Former bandmate Faze attended, along with music executives Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye and performers Wande Coal, Tony Tetuila and Spyro. 2Baba and Faze also performed a freestyle together at the gathering.[1]
A career stretching back to Plantashun Boiz
Born in Jos, Nigeria, Idibia began his career in the late 1990s with Plantashun Boiz, alongside Blackface and Faze. The group released Body and Soul in 2000 and Sold Out in 2003 before the members pursued solo careers. His solo debut, Face 2 Face, arrived in 2004 and included African Queen. Later albums included Grass 2 Grace, The Unstoppable, Away and Beyond and The Ascension.[1]
