A first holiday release

Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo has released Take Me Home (4 Christmas), her first holiday song.[1], [2]

The song follows a first Christmas visit to a partner’s extended family. Rodrigo wrote the song with her frequent collaborators Dan Nigro and Amy Allen. Its narrator travels into the partner’s extended family circle, hoping in particular to impress the grandmother. The accompanying video casts Ben Marshall, a performer on the television comedy show Saturday Night Live, as the partner. Actor Cynthia Nixon plays his mother.[1]

The release follows the Expectations remix video

The song follows the video for Rodrigo’s Expectations remix with Chappell Roan, who is also her tourmate. That video featured musician David Byrne. Expectations appeared on Rodrigo’s album You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love, released this year.[1]

Rodrigo takes the album around the world

Rodrigo is currently bringing that album to audiences around the world on the Unraveled Tour. The tour’s opening lineup includes Grace Ives, Wolf Alice, Devon Again, the Last Dinner Party and Die Spitz. The holiday single adds a family-visit story to her releases during that touring period.[1]
