A mother’s pursuit of fame

Rosamund Pike will star in and produce Feed, a body horror film directed by Leslye Headland. The project brings the actor and director together on a story about a mother and her daughter.[1], [2]

Daniella Isaacs wrote the screenplay. The announced plot follows a mother who discovers a little-known collagen supplement promising to make her young gymnast daughter an online celebrity. The pair find fame and success quickly, but a monstrous transformation accompanies the daughter’s growing online following. Feed takes inspiration from Hatching, the Finnish horror film released in 2022.[1]

Production and sales

Pike will produce through her company Primitive Streak. The production team also includes Shelley Browning for Magnolia Entertainment, Steven Schneider for Spooky Pictures, Ara Keshishian and Petr Jakl for ZQ Entertainment, and Sam Ritzenberg for Agile Films. ZQ Entertainment financed development. The Veterans represents international sales, while CAA Media Finance handles US rights. Sales are due to begin at the American Film Market.[1]

The filmmakers’ approach

Pike says the film addresses social media, self-improvement, the pursuit of celebrity and modern motherhood. Headland described Isaacs’s script as disturbing and deeply human. Her last feature directing credit was Sleeping with Other People in 2015; subsequent television work includes The Acolyte, Single Drunk Female, Almost Family and Black Monday.[1]
