KRX after-hours market turned over 1.8177 trillion won on its first day

MK put first-day turnover at 1.8177 trillion won and volatility interruptions at 1637. Yonhap put turnover at 1.82 trillion won in 72.24 million shares. Retail investors bought a net 53.7 billion won; foreigners sold a net 48 billion won. Yonhap does not mention the interruption print.

MK said KRX replaced the old 10-minute after-hours auction with four hours of continuous matching in Kospi and Kosdaq. Turnover was 6.6 percent of the day's 27.6 trillion won exchange total, with Kospi about 1.3 trillion won and Kosdaq 492.4 billion won. Volatility interruption ran 1637 times. Retail investors bought a net 53.7 billion won; foreigners sold a net 48 billion won and institutions 6.3 billion won. Hanwha Galleria rose as much as 15.4 percent and swung 19.2 percent from high to low. The exchange said thin books let small orders move prices.[1]
Yonhap: 1.82 trillion won, 72.24 million shares
Choi Kyong-ae for Yonhap, timestamped 14 September 2026 at 22:22 Korea time, said KRX put first-day after-hours turnover at 1.8 trillion won (1.33 billion dollars), then 72.24 million shares worth 1.82 trillion won. Regular session volume was 900 million shares worth 25.8 trillion won. A KRX official tied the hours to Nasdaq's planned 23-hour trading. Until Friday, after-hours stock trading ran only on Nextrade from 15:40 to 20:00; on Monday NXT did 12.17 million shares worth 1.78 trillion won in about 600 names. Daily price limits and circuit breakers apply on the KRX session too.[2]
The interruption count is only in MK
Yonhap does not mention a volatility interruption print. The 1637 count and 1.8177 trillion won are MK's sibling figures. Both accounts put first-day turnover around 1.8 trillion won; Yonhap still records NXT running a separate Monday night book.[1], [2]
