Trump announces economic campaign

President Donald Trump announced an unprecedented economic campaign against Iran on Wednesday, warning that any nation offering Tehran a financial lifeline would face severe consequences. The administration singled out oil smuggling, currency swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries and front companies as targets for disruption. The declaration arrived as bilateral negotiations remained deadlocked without any active diplomatic engagement to end the five-month conflict.[1]

UAE halts trade transactions

The United Arab Emirates suspended all trade and financial transactions with Iran after two ballistic missiles fell into the sea, with one striking Emirati waters. Abu Dhabi issued nationwide shelter warnings, while Tehran denied launching the missiles at the country. The suspension follows an earlier recall of the Emirati ambassador and deepens the economic isolation of Iran, as repeated attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz have already reduced maritime commerce.[2]

NATO affirms defense readiness

NATO affirmed its readiness to counter threats against its members following reports that Iran considered targeting military installations in Europe. Bulgaria responded by increasing security measures at the Bezmer air base, which hosts about 250 American personnel. The rising tension follows the expiration of a June memorandum without a permanent deal; allied nations are bolstering defenses as the Iranian foreign minister warned of retaliation against any state supporting military action.[3]
