Slavia recover from an early two-goal deficit

Fenerbahçe finished its home match against Czech club Slavia Prague with a 2-2 draw in the third round of the Champions League league phase. The Istanbul side led 2-0 inside 11 minutes, but conceded an equaliser in the 90th minute. The result left Fenerbahçe with two points from three matches and still without a league-phase win.[1], [2]

Oğuz and Greenwood score before Provod replies

Oğuz Aydın opened the scoring with a left-footed shot in the fourth minute. Mason Greenwood made it 2-0 in the 11th after a pass from Nelson Semedo. Slavia replied in the 15th minute: Mattéo Guendouzi’s misplaced pass allowed Lukáš Provod to move into the penalty area and score. Before half-time, goalkeeper Marković also stopped Vedat Muriqi as Fenerbahçe sought another goal.[1]

Missed chances precede the late equaliser

Marković denied Nene in the 64th minute, and Romelu Lukaku missed a promising opening in the 82nd. Slavia then levelled in the final minute of normal time. Fenerbahçe had begun its league-phase campaign with a 1-1 draw against Roma before losing 0-6 to Aston Villa. The home draw with Slavia extended the wait for a first victory after those opening results.[1]
