Four manufacturers join the Austin programme
MotoGP motorcycles are joining the programme of Formula 1’s United States Grand Prix in Austin for demonstration laps. The appearance brings the motorcycle series onto the bill of the Formula 1 weekend.[1], [2]
MotoGP announced the demonstration for Saturday 24 October at Circuit of the Americas, the Austin circuit in the United States. It is scheduled before Formula 1’s third free-practice session. Dani Pedrosa rides a KTM, Nicolò Bulega a Ducati, Andrea Dovizioso a Yamaha and Lorenzo Savadori an Aprilia, bringing four manufacturers into the same demonstration.[1]
Championship racing continues in Australia
The Austin programme consists of high-speed demonstration laps. It is separate from the MotoGP World Championship round being held in Australia that weekend. MotoGP described the appearance as the first time the series had shared the programme of a Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. The Austin laps form a demonstration rather than a championship race.[1]
Pedrosa is a member of the series’ Hall of Fame and won three Grand Prix world titles across the 125 cc and 250 cc categories. Dovizioso and Savadori are test riders. Bulega attends as champion of WorldSBK, the production-based motorcycle racing championship, before his planned move to MotoGP with Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team in 2027.[1]
Bikes also appear in the fan area
The four motorcycles are also scheduled for display in the circuit’s fan area throughout the weekend. MotoGP teams and riders are attending from Thursday to Sunday. Pedrosa described riding a MotoGP motorcycle in Austin as a special experience, while Bulega discussed the opportunity to perform in front of Formula 1 spectators.[1]
Circuit of the Americas is also scheduled to host the motorcycle championship’s United States Grand Prix on 23-25 April 2027. That return to the same circuit follows the October demonstration included in the Formula 1 event.[1]
