Kocaelispor hold off Alanyaspor after two first-half goals

Kocaelispor beat Alanyaspor 2-1 away in round 9 of Turkey’s Süper Lig. Berkan Kutlu and Baku established a two-goal lead before half-time, and Duarte’s reply after the break proved insufficient. Alanyaspor changed formation and made three substitutions at the interval, but goalkeeper Serhat Öztaşdelen stopped their later attempts to equalise.

Kocaelispor won away to Alanyaspor in Turkey’s Süper Lig football competition. The visitors took the advantage before half-time and held on after the home side improved following the interval.[1], [2]

The round 9 match ended 2-1. Berkan Kutlu opened the scoring in the 27th minute, receiving Rivas’s pass in the penalty area after a move down the left. Baku doubled the lead in the 42nd minute after Uğur Kaan Yıldız’s corner and Aye’s pass. Kocaelispor led 2-0 at half-time.[1]

Duarte replies but late chances are saved

Duarte reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute after exchanging passes with Enes Keskin and entering the area from the left. Alanyaspor could not find another goal. Serhat Öztaşdelen held Cedric’s header from Aliti’s cross in the 71st minute and gathered Ben Ali’s shot in the 84th at the second attempt.[1]

Coaches describe contrasting halves

Kocaelispor coach Selçuk İnan said his players had prepared for their opponents’ possession-based game. He explained that Show moved between central defence and midfield depending on which team had the ball. Alanyaspor coach Joao Pereira criticised his side’s first-half running and passing. He said three half-time substitutions and a switch to a 5-3-2 formation improved the team’s energy.[1]
