Palmowski’s restored lap secures two poles

Alisha Palmowski secured pole position for the Opening and Feature Races in F1 Academy, the women’s single-seater racing series, at Austin in the United States. Her final qualifying lap was initially deleted, then reinstated after the session, restoring her place ahead of Payton Westcott for the Friday and Sunday races.[1], [2]

The deletion concerned track limits at Turn 20 and had temporarily dropped Palmowski to second. With the lap restored, her advantage was 98 milliseconds. Westcott finished second and Nina Gademan third. Palmowski collected her fifth and sixth pole positions of the season.[1]

Second-fastest laps set the Opening Race order

Qualifying lasted 30 minutes after just one practice session. The drivers’ fastest laps set the Feature Race grid, while their second-best laps decided the Opening Race order. Palmowski, Westcott and Gademan kept the same positions in both classifications. Lisa Billard moved to fourth for the Opening Race, ahead of Alba Larsen and Jade Jacquet.[1]

Ferreira heads the reverse-grid race

Natalia Granada improved from eighth to fourth with her final lap for the Feature Race. Larsen was fifth, Billard sixth, Jacquet seventh and Rafaela Ferreira eighth. That eighth place put Ferreira on reverse-grid pole. Emma Felbermayr qualified ninth and Rachel Robertson tenth for the Feature Race.[1]
