Trento stay perfect after their home opener
Itas Trentino, the Italian men’s volleyball club, beat Cisterna Volley 3-0 at the BTS Arena in Trento. The second-round SuperLega match ended 25-23, 25-23 and 25-22, giving the hosts six points from two wins without dropping a set. Cisterna stayed within reach throughout the match, but could not carry any of the close sets over the line. Trento had also won its opening match away to Modena in straight sets.[1], [2], [3]
Faure and Michieletto finish the close sets
Former Cisterna player Theo Faure supplied the decisive attack in the opening set after the visitors repeatedly reduced Trento’s advantage. Filippo Lanza helped Cisterna begin the second strongly, and the contest remained close until Alessandro Michieletto finished that set. Cisterna moved ahead again in the third through Duflos-Rossi’s attack, Mazzone’s block and Peng’s serve. Michieletto’s serving then helped Trento pull away before Daniele Lavia completed the match.[1], [2]
Barotto returns as Michieletto takes the match award
Michieletto was named the match’s most valuable player. Cisterna changed its playing arrangement during the contest and gave Barotto his first appearance of the season after a hand problem. The visitors had started with Fanizza at setter and Federici at libero, the defensive specialist. Trento’s next league match was scheduled away to newly promoted Tinet in Pordenone on November 1; Cisterna’s next opponent was Piacenza.[1], [2], [3]
