Fuhr starts work on 1 November

Thomas Fuhr will take over as chief executive of Audi Formula Racing on 1 November. The company in Neuburg an der Donau, Germany, develops and manufactures the power unit for Audi’s Formula 1 programme. The 28 October appointment places an executive with more than 30 years of engineering and leadership experience at the head of the operation.[1], [2]

Development and operations retain their own leaders

Technical chief Stefan Dreyer will concentrate on development of the Formula 1 power unit, while operations chief Christian Foyer continues to oversee the Neuburg site. Fuhr was managing director of engine manufacturer Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains between 2009 and 2012. He later held senior roles at the industrial companies GROHE and LIXIL, and most recently served as technology chief at Georg Fischer Building Flow Solutions.[1]

The engine programme is based in Neuburg

Audi Formula Racing was established in 2022, with responsibility extending to the hybrid drive system and gearbox. Its campus opened in 2014, about 16 kilometres from Ingolstadt in Germany. Audi said the site had been modernised and expanded by 3,000 square metres for Formula 1 and contained more than 20 test benches. Audi team chief Mattia Binotto said Fuhr’s technical and organisational experience would help develop the team.[1]
