Formula 2 has selected 11 entrants, including newcomer LN4 Fusion and 10 continuing teams, for 2027, 2028 and 2029. Every team will run two cars, maintaining a grid of 22. Eleven places for the next three seasons

Formula 2, the championship that prepares young racing drivers for Formula 1, has selected its teams for 2027, 2028 and 2029. LN4 Fusion is the sole newcomer alongside 10 retained entrants. Each team will field two cars, preserving a grid of 22. The admission gives the new organisation a place in the same three-season cycle as the established teams.[1], [2]

LN4 Fusion joins under an Italian licence

LN4 Fusion will compete with a licence from Italy. Other teams from Italy, PREMA Racing and TRIDENT also remain on the list. France’s ART Grand Prix and DAMS retain their places, as does Spain’s Campos Racing. The teams from Great Britain are Hitech and Invicta Racing. All are racing organisations selected for the new cycle.[1]

Michel welcomes the newcomer

The remaining selected teams are the Netherlands’ MP Motorsport and Van Amersfoort Racing, and New Zealand’s Rodin Motorsport. Championship chief executive Bruno Michel said the selection had attracted strong international interest. He praised the continuing teams’ work preparing drivers for Formula 1 and welcomed LN4 Fusion’s experience. Michel said he expected the newcomer to contribute to the championship during the coming cycle.[1]
