Two substitutes restore the away lead
FC Augsburg won 4-2 away to SG Sonnenhof Großaspach to reach the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal, the German national football cup. Arijon Ibrahimović and Anton Kade scored after coming off the bench, ending the third-tier hosts’ recovery from two goals down. Augsburg coach Manuel Baum had introduced both attackers in the second half.[1], [2]
Ribeiro’s double is answered
Augsburg forward Rodrigo Ribeiro opened the scoring in the 13th minute from Robin Fellhauer’s headed pass. Eight minutes later he struck again after a long ball from Hennes Behrens. Großaspach player Marius Kunde hit the post between those goals. Großaspach’s Luca Molinari reduced the deficit with a left-footed finish in the 22nd minute. After halftime, captain Volkan Celiktas headed in Molinari’s cross to make it 2-2.[1]
Ibrahimović and Kade settle the tie
Ibrahimović scored from distance in the 69th minute. Kade added Augsburg’s fourth five minutes later, finishing with his left foot from another Behrens assist. Großaspach had eliminated Arminia Bielefeld in the opening round; Augsburg had beaten Cottbus 2-0. Baum had made five starting changes following a 1-1 league draw with Union Berlin. Augsburg’s next league match is against Freiburg on 31 October.[1]
