Gold decided in a shoot-off

Jesper Hansen won the men’s skeet world title in Doha on 6 November, defeating Egypt’s Azmy Mehelba in a shoot-off. The Danish shooter also secured an Olympic quota place for his country at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.[1], [2]

Hansen and Mehelba had each hit 34 targets in the regulation final. Hansen then struck 16 in the deciding stage, against Mehelba’s 15. The one-target margin settled the gold medal after the two athletes had finished level; Mehelba took silver.[1]

Three countries secure Olympic places

Kuwait’s Abdulaziz Alsaad completed the podium with 29 hits. All three medallists earned quota places for their National Olympic Committees, so Egypt and Kuwait joined Denmark in securing places for Los Angeles. Alsaad’s bronze combined a world championship medal with an Olympic qualification place for Kuwait.[1]

Kaya finishes eighth for Türkiye

Türkiye’s Muhammet Seyhun Kaya finished eighth in the eight-man final, hitting nine targets. Finland’s Eetu Kallioinen was the highest finisher outside the medal positions with 24 hits. His compatriot Timi Vallioniemi placed seventh with ten. Tomas Nydrle of Czechia and neutral athlete Kirill Makarov both finished on 21 hits, taking fifth and sixth respectively.[1]
