Arsenal drew 2-2 at Bayern Munich after Declan Rice struck late to cancel out Harry Kane’s penalty. Rice restores parity in Munich
Arsenal left Bayern Munich with a 2-2 draw in the Champions League after Declan Rice scored a late equaliser.[1], [2]
Rice met Viktor Gyokeres’ pass in the penalty area and drove a low shot into the corner in the 82nd minute. Gyokeres had replaced Kai Havertz during the second half.[1]
Saka’s injury brings Eze into the match
Arsenal’s opening goal had also involved an early substitute. Bukayo Saka went off injured and Eberechi Eze entered in the tenth minute. Eze scored in the 25th, finishing left-footed after Martin Odegaard’s pass behind the defence. A video review overturned the initial offside flag. Bayern answered in the 35th minute when Alphonso Davies ran onto Kane’s through ball and beat goalkeeper David Raya.[1]
Kane’s penalty gives Bayern a temporary lead
Both goalkeepers made important saves after the interval. Manuel Neuer kept out Bruno Guimaraes’ header following a corner, and Raya denied Bayern at the other end. Kane converted a penalty in the 61st minute after his shot struck Jurriën Timber’s arm. Bayern could not hold that lead, and Neuer later denied Timber again. Coach Vincent Kompany was back on the touchline after a viral infection.[1]
