Return to Sale restores England eligibility
England recalled Joe Marchant in a 36-player training squad for November’s Nations Championship preparations. The centre last appeared for his country at the 2023 Rugby World Cup. He subsequently played for Stade Français in France before returning to Sale, making him available for selection again. Will Joseph is another returning centre in Steve Borthwick’s group as the coach manages injury concerns.[1], [2]
Midfield injuries shape the preparation group
Marchant joins Henry Slade, Max Ojomoh and Fraser Dingwall among the centre options. Benhard Janse van Rensburg is absent following a concussion. Seb Atkinson joins the rehabilitation group, alongside Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Guy Pepper. Captain Maro Itoje returns after being rested for the July programme, while Courtney Lawes is not selected despite returning from France to join Sale.[1]
November opponents await after club commitments
The players assemble at Pennyhill Park before returning to their clubs for the next league round. England’s home programme lists Australia on 8 November, Japan on 14 November and New Zealand on 21 November, followed by the competition’s concluding weekend. Marchant’s recall restores an experienced international to the preparation group. Match selections follow separately as Borthwick assesses his available midfield options.[1]
