Paul announces his first bout since Joshua defeat

Jake Paul announced a return to the boxing ring in Dubai on 24 December.[1], [2]

The bout follows his knockout defeat by Anthony Joshua, a former heavyweight world champion. An opponent has not yet been announced for the comeback. Paul said several names were under consideration as he outlined his return after the Joshua fight.[1]

A broken jaw preceded a year away from the ring

Joshua stopped Paul in the 6th round of their contest. Paul suffered a broken jaw, which Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder and chief executive of boxing promoter Most Valuable Promotions, described as fractures in 2 places. The announced date puts the comeback 12 months after that defeat. Paul has recorded 12 professional victories and 2 losses, with 7 wins by knockout. His earlier opponents included Mike Tyson in 2024.[1]

Promoter works to finalise the opponent

Bidarian said the opponent was being finalised and that the promotion planned to share more information in the coming weeks. Paul referred to a list of possible names and waiting for a contract to be signed. Previous discussions had included mixed martial artists Darren Till and Francis Ngannou, and boxers Chris Eubank Jr and Ryan Garcia. Paul said his belief in himself had survived the defeat and described Dubai as the setting for the next stage of his career.[1]
