Scales’ header earns Celtic a point against Dundee United
Liam Scales headed Celtic level in a 2–2 home draw with Dundee United after the visitors had overturned Camilo Durán’s opening goal. Zac Sapsford and Neil Farrugia put United ahead before halftime. Celtic introduced Jota and Haissem Hassan at the interval, but their second-half pressure brought an equaliser rather than a winning goal.
Liam Scales supplied the home equaliser with a header after Celtic had fallen behind before halftime. The teams shared the points at Celtic Park despite further home pressure in the closing stages. Dundee United had scored twice after conceding the opening goal.[1]
United overturn Durán’s opening goal
Camilo Durán put Celtic ahead in the 18th minute, finishing after Benjamin Nygren headed the ball across the area and Kasper Høgh laid it off. Durán had scored in 4 successive league matches. Zac Sapsford then headed Dundee United level in the 28th minute, and Neil Farrugia scored 3 minutes later amid a crowded penalty area. Celtic manager Martin O’Neill had retained the side that beat Hibernian 2–1 at the weekend.[1]
Jota’s cross supplies the equaliser
O’Neill introduced Jota and Haissem Hassan for Callum Osmand and Høgh at halftime. Hassan forced goalkeeper Jack Walton to turn a shot behind. Celtic’s equaliser followed a short corner: Jota crossed and Scales arrived to head into the net. As Celtic pressed for a winner, Dundee United also broke forward and Sam Johnstone made saves. Later substitutes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Landon Emenalo and Shim Mheuka joined Celtic’s attack, but an Oxlade-Chamberlain shot went wide and the visitors blocked other efforts.[1]
