Rangers take the final place at Hampden
Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park. Naderi scored the only goal in the 83rd minute, ending a contest that had remained level through the interval and deep into the second half. Aberdeen continued to look for an equaliser after conceding, but Rangers held their advantage through the final whistle to reach the final.[1], [2]
Early injury forces Aberdeen to change
Aberdeen had to replace the injured Gyamfi after 15 minutes, introducing Armstrong and moving Lyons into a wing-back role. Guinness-Walker tested Pandur in the 22nd minute and Nisbet headed wide in the 34th. At the other end, Aberdeen goalkeeper Muller intervened near the break, while a Naderi header landed on the roof of the net. Neither side found a first-half breakthrough.[1]
Naderi finishes after Penrice’s attempt
After the break, Muller saved a long-range Minsu attempt and Kelsy headed wide. Nisbet also threatened as Aberdeen sought a goal, with one shot blocked and another effort going over after a corner. Rangers eventually scored when Penrice’s attempted shot reached Naderi, who finished from close range. Armstrong curled a shot narrowly wide in added time, leaving Aberdeen without a late reply.[1]
