Albion take three points in London
West Bromwich Albion won 3-1 at West Ham United to climb into fourth place in the league. Felix Horn Myhre, JJ Morgan and Callum Styles scored for James Morrison’s team at London Stadium. Jarrod Bowen supplied West Ham’s only goal. The result extended Albion’s unbeaten sequence to four matches. Around 3,000 travelling supporters backed the visitors, who regained the lead after going into half-time level at 1-1.[1], [2]
Morgan supplies a goal and an assist
Isaac Price released Morgan down the right in the move that brought the opening goal around the 20th minute. Morgan crossed for Myhre to finish. Price then shot wide and Morgan headed over as Albion sought another. Bowen’s deflected near-post effort brought West Ham level before the interval. After the restart, Morgan finished a move himself to restore the visitors’ advantage in front of their travelling support.[1]
Styles widens the gap
Max O’Leary kept out a Kyle Walker-Peters effort as West Ham tried to respond. With 18 minutes remaining, Styles received the ball outside the penalty area and beat Mads Hermansen with a half-volley. That gave Albion a 3-1 lead and the two-goal cushion they carried to the final whistle. West Ham could not add to Bowen’s first-half goal. Albion’s next scheduled fixture is at home to Southampton on Tuesday, following this away victory.[1]
