Zaman and Baig rebuild the chase

Pakistan’s pursuit of 326 in the Lahore final survived two early wickets before ending in a three-wicket victory over Sri Lanka. Maaz Sadaqat departed for five and Babar Azam failed to score. Fakhar Zaman then scored 127 from 99 balls, reaching his 12th century in one-day internationals. His innings included 11 fours and six sixes, while Saad Baig contributed 74 from 75 deliveries for his first ODI half-century.[1], [2]

Minhas accelerates before Afridi finishes

The departures of Zaman and Baig left Pakistan at 230 for five after 36 overs and five balls. Arafat Minhas supplied the next burst of scoring: his 61 came from only 31 balls and contained three fours and four sixes. Hasan Nawaz added 37 from 45 deliveries. Captain Shaheen Afridi struck the six that completed the chase, giving the hosts the final and the tri-series trophy.[1]

Mendis sets Sri Lanka’s target

Sri Lanka had built the target around Kamindu Mendis’s 131 from 128 balls. He and Avishka Fernando put on 87 for the first wicket before Fernando departed for 38. Pavan Rathnayake followed with 77 from 65 deliveries, continuing a tournament in which he had already scored two centuries. Those substantial innings left Pakistan needing contributions beyond their opening batters, and the hosts obtained them at successive stages of the chase.[1]
