Kimi K3 lands on Bedrock with a million-token window
Amazon Web Services' Kimi K3 model card lists an 18 September 2026 launch on Amazon Bedrock, a 1 million token context window, and explicit prompt caching on the Responses and Chat Completions APIs. Inside AI, writing on 19 September, calls the listing generally available, with native vision and 2.8 trillion parameters, and says it is the first open-weight Bedrock model with that caching. AWS still marks knowledge bases and intelligent prompt routing unsupported.
Mantis agents score every check-in before submit
Google Cloud on 19 September 2026 described Mantis agents that score each check-in as it arrives, rather than waiting on a slow one-off scan. Threat models use live repo metadata and a map of calls across packages. A nightly pass after submit is the second layer; a repair bot drafts a patch on the same change request for a person to review. False-positive figures in the post are Google’s own.
Newsom asks for a kill-switch memo, not a live switch
California Governor Gavin Newsom's Friday executive order tells GovOps to speed SB 813 and AB 1405 and, with emergency officials, to convene experts. GovTech California dates a 16 November 2026 memo on on-site independent verification organizations and a frontier-model kill switch whose efficacy an IVO would keep testing. The governor's own page says the group has two months to propose ideas; neither account says the switch is law.
Nscale files to list on the NYSE under the ticker NSCL
CNBC said London-based Nscale applied to list on the New York Stock Exchange as NSCL after posting 140.6 million dollars of revenue and a 1.02 billion dollar net loss in the six months ended 30 June 2026. SiliconANGLE, covering the same 18 September filing, added a 44.6 billion dollar Anthropic infrastructure contract and said Bloomberg sources had put a raise of up to 3 billion dollars against a 14.6 billion dollar March valuation.
On enters football with Mbappé and names Henry director
On's Zurich press note dated 18 September said the Swiss sportswear firm is entering football with Kylian Mbappé as a product partner and global ambassador, and named Thierry Henry director of football after work with the brand since late 2025. It will apply LightSpray, a sprayed-filament process first shown in 2024, to football boots. Sydney Schertenleib, a Barcelona player who joined On in December 2025, now works on football product as well. Contract values were not listed.
Poisk takes a three-ton cargo craft at 09:44
NASA's station blog says Roscosmos Progress 96 reached the space-facing port of ISS Poisk at 09:44 EDT on Saturday 19 September, with about 3 tons of food, fuel and supplies for Expedition 75. Space.com's Mike Wall, updating the same day, reports the same 09:44 ET capture after a 16 September Soyuz lift-off from Baikonur. Both pages say the ship is to stay about five months, then burn with trash.
Poland scrambled jets as Russia struck Ukraine with jet-powered drones
Al Jazeera writes that Poland scrambled fighter jets and placed air-defence systems on high readiness during a wide Russian aerial attack on Ukraine, then stood the brief operation down after finding no airspace violation. The Daily Mirror, quoting the same Operational Command statement, times the deployment shortly after 09:00 local time and says ground-based air defence and radar reached readiness.
Resolve caught iron falling toward a 11-minute pulsar
NASA Science on 18 September 2026 relayed a Science Advances result from XRISM Resolve: ionized iron absorption shifted red, which the team read as plasma racing at about 540000 kilometres per hour toward GX 301-2. The 1 February 2025 stare lasted about 16 hours. Wray 977, a blue hypergiant in Crux about 13000 light-years away, is the mass donor.
Riyadh hears an explosion after aerial-threat alerts
India Today reported Saudi aerial-threat alerts and an explosion heard in Riyadh on 19 September. The BBC, on the same calendar day, described overnight alerts, a Saturday-morning all-clear, smoke near the airport, and a Houthi claim of attacks on sensitive sites. The BBC said Saudi authorities had given no official comment on what happened.
Russia's Duma vote meets a cyberattack and occupied-region polls
Al Jazeera reported a powerful overnight attack on Moscow's electronic voting system on the second day of a tightly controlled three-day Duma election, citing Interfax, with voting due to run until 18:00 GMT Sunday for all 450 lower-house seats. The Associated Press wrote that the same parliamentary election is being held for the first time in Ukraine regions Moscow illegally annexed, and that a Ukrainian coalition urged residents there to protect their lives rather than vote.
