James Wan and Jason Blum have named their combined horror business Blumhouse Atomic, while retaining Blumhouse and Atomic Monster as separate production labels. Their creative teams will continue developing film and television projects under their own banners. The announcement follows the companies’ 2024 merger and accompanies work with emerging filmmakers and returning horror franchises.
Horror producers James Wan and Jason Blum have announced Blumhouse Atomic as the corporate name for their combined business. The companies joined in 2024. Under the new umbrella, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster will keep their separate production labels. Each label’s creative team will continue to develop and produce film and television projects under its existing banner.[1], [2]
Wan said the company wanted to build lasting relationships with emerging filmmakers, naming Kane Parsons, Curry Barker, Josh Giuliano and Dylan Clark. Sam Zimmerman, appointed senior vice president of development and acquisitions this year, has a remit to develop genre features with budgets below 5 million dollars. The company has also made a first-look agreement with production company Divide/Conquer for economical, high-concept projects.[1]
The announced 2027 slate includes River, The Revenge of La Llorona, The Exorcist: Martyrs, Anything But Ghosts and Seasons. Returning franchises include Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch. Blum described the return of Saw to Wan, with another chapter planned, as an example of their collaboration. He also said the shared business offered opportunities to extend stories into television, games and live experiences.[1]
