Acosta leads home Marquez and Bezzecchi
Pedro Acosta took victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix sprint at Sepang, the circuit in Malaysia. Marc Marquez followed him home, with Marco Bezzecchi completing the podium. The front group kept its dry-weather tyres as showers began affecting individual corners during the short race.[1], [2]
Rain opens the option of changing bikes
White flags signalled that riders could enter the pits and change motorcycles. Acosta stayed out and moved into first place with three laps remaining. He later identified the fourth and tenth corners as especially difficult places to judge how much grip was available.[1]
Alex Marquez had led from pole position before crashing on the third lap. Ai Ogura then spent much of the race in front, but lost places in the closing exchanges and finished fourth.[2]
Binder climbs from the fifth row
Brad Binder recovered from fifteenth on the grid to seventh, earning three sprint points. Enea Bastianini finished ninth for the last point after easing his early attacks in the slippery conditions. Maverick Viñales switched to his wet-weather motorcycle and came fifteenth; the heavier rain arrived on the cooling-down lap. Acosta’s success was his second Saturday win of the season after Thailand.[1]
