A new promotional agreement
Zak Chelli, a British light-heavyweight boxer from Fulham in London, has signed a multi-fight agreement with boxing promoter Zuffa Boxing. His bouts will again be shown on Sky Sports. The company has not yet named the date or opponent for his first appearance under the deal.[1], [2]
The 28-year-old said he welcomed the opportunity and wanted to make fights that supporters wished to see. Chelli also works as a supply teacher at a secondary school in Surrey.[1]
The Morrell win preceded the signing
Chelli joins after defeating David Morrell by knockout in May. He accepted that contest with two weeks’ notice and recovered from an early deficit. Zuffa’s account said he hurt Morrell in the ninth round, then ended the bout with a right hand with 36 seconds remaining in round ten.[1]
From super middleweight to light heavyweight
Chelli began his professional career at super middleweight in 2017. He collected English, British and Commonwealth titles before moving to light heavyweight last year, winning the English title in his first fight in the division. His new contract places him on Zuffa’s light-heavyweight roster after that change of weight and the victory over Morrell.[1]
