Craig Casey will start for Ireland against Argentina in Dublin on 6 November, with Jamison Gibson-Park among the replacements. Casey starts in Dublin

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has selected Craig Casey to start against Argentina, leaving Jamison Gibson-Park among the replacements. The national rugby union teams meet in the Nations Championship at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 6 November. Nick Timoney also starts, with Josh van der Flier on the bench.[1], [2]

Casey partners Sam Prendergast, who has recovered from a wrist injury. Gibson-Park returned from a groin problem against Munster on 24 October, his only appearance so far this season.[1]

Injuries reshape the back row

With captain Caelan Doris and Jack Conan injured, Sean Jansen starts at number eight. The 27-year-old scored a try on his international debut against Japan in July and then appeared as a replacement against New Zealand. Dan Sheehan takes the captaincy. Timoney’s selection is his ninth consecutive Ireland Test involvement, seven of the previous appearances having come from the bench.[1]

Long absences end

Mack Hansen, Andrew Porter and Ryan Baird will make their first Ireland starts since the loss to South Africa last November. Injuries kept all three out of the Six Nations and summer internationals. Robbie Henshaw joins Stuart McCloskey in midfield while Garry Ringrose is sidelined by a hamstring problem. Argentina coach Felipe Contepomi has made 12 changes from September’s draw with Australia as his team seeks its first away win over Ireland.[1]
