Aldridge finishes the upset
East Texas A&M, a men's college basketball team from Texas, began the season by beating Oklahoma 68-64 in Norman.[1], [2]
Bo Aldridge supplied 22 points, making eight of his twelve shots, and sank two free throws with three seconds remaining. Mohamed Diakite and Alonzo Dodd added 15 points apiece. The Lions moved ahead 13-12 with 12 minutes and 59 seconds left in the first half and never subsequently trailed. Oklahoma levelled at 58 and then 60 but failed to take the lead.[1]
Moser accepts responsibility
Porter Moser, Oklahoma's coach, apologised to the supporters and accepted responsibility. He pointed to 15 turnovers and 15 missed free throws, saying his team had played on its heels. Pop Isaacs scored 15 points for Oklahoma; Derrion Reid added 14 and ten rebounds. Reid said the visitors had sped his team up and that Oklahoma needed to maintain its own approach against any opponent.[1]
Lions overturn preseason expectations
East Texas A&M had been picked last among the Southland Conference's twelve teams before the season. Formerly named Texas A&M-Commerce, the team is entering its fifth Division I season. The victory was its first in three meetings with Oklahoma. Moser is in his sixth season with the Sooners and had led them to 20 wins in each of the previous three campaigns.[1]
