An early lead becomes a five-goal win

Gençlerbirliği, the Ankara football club, defeated Alanyaspor 5-0 at Eryaman Stadium in round ten of Turkey's Süper Lig.[1], [2]

The hosts struck in the opening minute through Oğulcan Ülgün. Goalkeeper İrfan Can Eğribayat started the move with a long kick before Traore and Franco Tongya helped carry the ball forward. Gençlerbirliği led 1-0 at halftime. Alanyaspor threatened through Duarte, who shot wide, and Makouta, whose effort İrfan Can touched onto the crossbar. Victor denied Gouveia at the other end.[1]

Gouveia scores twice after the break

Tongya finished Traore's pass in the 59th minute to double the lead. Gouveia scored from outside the area in the 65th, and Mendes headed in Tongya's cross in the 69th. Gouveia added the fifth in the 79th following another long ball from İrfan Can. The hosts scored four times after halftime to turn their narrow advantage into a comfortable margin.[1]

Storck praises his young players

Coach Bernd Storck said a preceding cup victory had given his players confidence and praised the youngsters who had earned league opportunities. He dedicated the win to captain Dimitrios Goutas, who he said would miss six months. Alanyaspor coach Joao Pereira said his side had chances to equalise. He described reducing defensive numbers after the second goal as a mistake and criticised repeated errors and insufficient concentration.[1]
